About the role
Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and services Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and web services Write clean, maintainable, reusable and well-documented code Design, develop and optimize databases and data-access layers Integrate backend systems with third-party APIs, applications and services Implement appropriate authentication, authorization and data-security controls Troubleshoot, debug and resolve application and production issues Conduct unit testing, integration testing and performance testing Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure effective API and system integration Work with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, deployments and production environments Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for optimization Contribute to system architecture, technical documentation and solution design Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning and technical discussions Maintain version control and development workflows using Git Support continuous improvement of development processes, tools and technical standards Requirements Bachelor's degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field 3+ years of professional backend development experience Experience with one or more of the following: Java, C#, Python, Node.js, TypeScript, or PHP Experience with RESTful API development and microservices architecture Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB) Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and containerization Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Excellent programming and debugging skills Strong understanding of backend architecture and development principles Attention to detail and commitment to code quality Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines Continuous-learning mindset with an interest in emerging technologies
