About the role
Founding Sales Development Representative, Teya Cities
£66,000 OTE (£40,000 base salary + uncapped commission) and a comprehensive benefits package
Location: London office | Office-based, 5 days a week
Hello. We’re Teya.
Teya was founded on a simple belief: local businesses deserve better.
They are the cafés, restaurants, salons, shops and entrepreneurs that bring character to our high streets, create jobs and keep communities moving. Yet for too long, financial services have made life harder for them, with clunky tools, poor support and complexity that gets in the way of running a business.
Teya exists to change that. We’re building a financial platform for local businesses across Europe, bringing together payments, business accounts and other business tools with simple technology and real human support. From card payments and business accounts to financing solutions, we help our Members spend less time worrying about their finances and more time doing what they love.
We move fast. We care about quality. We stay close to the detail. And we believe great performance and genuine hospitality should go hand in hand.
If you’re ambitious, enjoy connecting with people and want to make a genuine difference for local businesses, we’d love to hear from you.
Your Mission
We’re looking for a Founding Sales Development Representative to help build and scale Teya Cities, our new approach to growing Teya’s presence in local communities, from our London office.
Teya Cities brings our sales teams closer to the businesses we serve. By focusing on selected cities, building strong local teams and connecting our sales channels, we’re creating a more effective way to reach and support local businesses.
As one of our first SDRs, you’ll be the first point of contact for many prospective Members, speaking with local business owners, understanding their needs and creating opportunities for our Field Sales teams. You’ll also help shape how we prospect, qualify and engage businesses as Teya Cities expands.
Your responsibilities will include
- Start great conversations: Proactively engage prospective Members through outbound calls, email and other channels, turning prioritised leads into meaningful sales conversations.
- Understand what matters: Build rapport with business owners, ask thoughtful questions and understand their needs, challenges and potential fit with Teya’s products and services.
- Create quality opportunities: Identify strong sales opportunities and arrange meetings with our Field Sales teams, giving them the context they need for a productive conversation.
- See things through: Take responsibility for every opportunity you generate, confirming appointments, communicating clearly and following up to ensure meetings take place.
- Deliver results: Take ownership of your performance and consistently work towards your targets, focusing on opportunities that convert into new Members.
- Stay organised: Keep accurate CRM records, manage your pipeline effectively and ensure every opportunity has a clear next step.
- Help us improve: Test new approaches, share what you learn and help build a consistent, high-performing SDR approach that can be replicated in new cities.
Your Story
We believe great salespeople come from all kinds of backgrounds.
You might already have experience in sales development, telesales or another customer-facing role. Or you might be earlier in your career, looking for an opportunity to develop your commercial skills in a fast-growing business.
What matters most to us is your drive, your ability to connect with people and your willingness to learn and improve.
We’re looking for people who bring
- Ambition and drive: You’re motivated by results, enjoy working towards challenging goals and take pride in delivering great performance.
- Strong people skills: You’re confident speaking with new people, build rapport quickly and know how to make a conversation engaging and relevant.
- Curiosity and commercial awareness: You ask good questions, listen carefully and enjoy understanding how businesses work and what matters to their owners.
- Resilience and determination: You’re comfortable with rejection, stay positive and remain focused when things don’t go your way.
- Coachability: You’re open to feedback, willing to challenge yourself and always looking for ways to improve.
- Ownership and self-discipline: You’re organised, proactive and take responsibility for managing your time, activities and follow-ups.
- A builder’s mindset: You enjoy solving problems, experimenting with new approaches and helping create better ways of working.
- A team-first approach: You understand that great sales performance is a team effort and enjoy working closely with others to achieve shared goals.
- A genuine care for others: You believe every interaction matters and that building trust is just as important as generating a sale.
Experience in sales development, outbound sales or telesales, working with small and medium-sized businesses, payments or fintech, or using CRM systems and outbound diallers is an advantage, but not essential.
You’ll also need
- Fluency in English.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to work from our London office 5 days a week.
The Perks
Alongside the opportunity to build your career in a growing European fintech, you’ll receive:
- 25 days of paid annual leave, plus UK bank holidays.
- Bupa private healthcare and life insurance.
- Employer pension contributions through our company pension scheme.
- Free gym membership through Wellhub, alongside one-to-one therapy sessions, meditation and digital fitness and nutrition apps.
- Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
- Structured onboarding, hands-on coaching and opportunities to grow your career at Teya.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or background can thrive and do their best work.
